Outreach Programs

Nature Centres

The Grand River Conservation Authority operates four Nature Centres in the Grand River watershed. The centres provide environmental and outdoor education programs for school children, community groups and families. The goal of these programs are to increase public knowledge of the work of the Grand River Conservation Authority, create appreciation for global environmental concepts , and increase public support for local conservation efforts.

The Grand River Conservation Authority works with watershed school boards to provide outdoor education at the Nature Centre on a yearly basis. On evening, weekend and school holidays the Nature Centres are active with Environmental Day Camps, Fishing Camps, and Community Programs for all ages and interested including Birthday Parties and Scout and Guide Groups. In addition, individual Nature Centres host a variety of family oriented weekend programs and special events. The Children's Water Education Council partners with the Grand River Conservation Authority to provide activity centres to enhance these educational programs.
